13 June 2024 – A recent information session jointly organized by EMBO and the HUN-REN Research Centre for Natural Sciences, Budapest, Hungary, provided PhD students and postdoctoral researchers with information about EMBO funding programmes and an overview of EMBO scientific publishing, followed by a scientific presentation from Rita Sinka, University of Szeged. A round table with EMBO Member Balázs Papp, Attila Remenyi, HUN-REN TTK, and András Málnási-Csizmadia, Eötvös University, moderated by EMBO Installation Grantee Gergely Róna, HUN-REN TTK, focused on careers in the life sciences, and the role of building and maintaining networks. Karin Dumstrei, Head of the EMBO Fellowship Programme and Ágnes Tantos of HUN-REN TTK, co-organizer of the information session, discussed gender bias among scientists and how to support women in science.
Until the end of 2024, life scientists in or going to Hungary can apply for schemes and support offerings under the initiative in the EMBO Programmes across Europe.
