5 July 2024 – More than 50 members of the international EMBO Young Investigator Network recently gathered at the Mediterranean Institute for Life Sciences (MedILS), Split, Croatia, for their annual retreat. The event aimed to provide training for group leaders from the communities of EMBO Young Investigators, Installation Grantees and Global Investigators.
The retreat focused on enhancing leadership skills, fostering collaboration and supporting the professional development of early career leaders in the life sciences. Participants took part in a series of workshops and discussions designed to address the challenges and opportunities faced by group leaders. Topics included team and conflict management, self-leadership, creative problem solving, concise scientific presentations, project management, negotiation and the application of design principles in the preparation of figures. The biannual training course is one of the support activities for members of the EMBO Young Investigator Network.
