18 March 2024 – EMBO announces the launch of a pilot scheme to support Open Access publication by life scientists performing their research in India. EMBO will cover the Article Processing Charges (APCs) for research papers published in The EMBO Journal, EMBO Reports, Molecular Systems Biology and EMBO Molecular Medicine in 2024 by corresponding authors based in India. The scheme will cover publication charges that are in excess to authors’ access to financial publication support. To be eligible, the designated primary corresponding author of the paper must be based in an Indian academic institution at the time of acceptance of the paper. Financial support for publication does not impact the editorial assessment and peer review of the paper.
In announcing the scheme EMBO acknowledges the high quality research being carried out in India, which is an EMBO Associate Member State, and the challenges faced by researchers in India in paying APCs for Open Access publication.
