After 6 months, authors are encouraged to archive the pre-edited, accepted papers in online repositories such as PubMedCentral and if authors opt in to the service, EMBO will do this for them. After 1 year, all content in the journals converts to ‘Open Access’ in its published form and is included in this form in PubMedCentral.
