EMBO awards Installation Grants to seven talented researchers
Heidelberg, 5 December 2011 – EMBO today announces the selection of seven scientists as recipients of the 2011 EMBO Installation Grants. The grants will assist the scientists to relocate and set up laboratories in the Czech Republic, Poland, Estonia and Turkey.

Scientists in Singapore and Europe to collaborate
EMBO, EMBC and Singapore sign cooperation agreement
HEIDELBERG, 13 October 2011 – Scientists in Singapore and Europe will have new avenues for scientific interaction, following a cooperation agreement between EMBO, its intergovernmental funding body, EMBC, and the government of Singapore. The agreement will allow Singapore scientists to participate in EMBO training programmes and activities. It also means that EMBO workshops and lectures can take place in Singapore. This is the first cooperation agreement of its kind between EMBO, EMBC and Singapore.
Ties between scientists in South Africa and Europe to strengthen

HEIDELBERG, 22 September 2011 – Scientists in South Africa will access the latest in European life sciences thinking and research following a cooperation agreement between EMBO, its intergovernmental funding body, EMBC, and the government of South Africa. The agreement will allow South African scientists to participate in EMBO programmes and activities. It also means that certain EMBO activities will take place in South Africa.

Groundbreaking research on DNA repair, genome integrity and cancer
HEIDELBERG, Germany, 20 April 2011 – The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) today announced Simon Boulton of Cancer Research UK’s London Research Institute, Clare Hall Laboratories as the winner of the 2011 EMBO Gold Medal. Awarded annually, the EMBO Gold Medal recognizes the outstanding contributions of young researchers in the molecular life sciences.

British chemist recognized as leader in mass spectrometry
HEIDELBERG, Germany, 17 February 2011 – The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) and the Federation of European Biochemical Societies (FEBS) announce Carol V. Robinson, Professor of Chemistry at the University of Oxford, UK, as the winner of the 2011 FEBS/EMBO Women in Science Award. Professor Robinson has been recognized for her pioneering work in the development of mass spectrometry as a tool used for investigating the structure and dynamics of protein complexes.
Stefanie Dimmeler appointed as Chief Editor of EMBO Molecular Medicine
Heidelberg, Germany, 1 February 2011 – The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) announces the appointment of Professor Stefanie Dimmeler as Chief Editor of the scientific journal EMBO Molecular Medicine.* Dr. Dimmeler is Professor of Experimental Medicine and Director of the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration, Center for Molecular Medicine at the Goethe University Frankfurt.
